The Moleskin
For two centuries Moleskine has been the legendary notebook of artists, writers, intellectuals and travelers. A Pacific Pen
Everyone seems to buy a pen at Christmas, so if you're going to get one why not make it a pen thats a little different than the rest. The Pen Again is a pen which has been designed from the ground up for comfort and ease of use. When I first put one of these things in my hand I immediately wondered why no-one had ever thought of this before. It feels like thats where it should be, but it feels really weird at the same time - I feel me and my Pen Again are going to get on just fine.
I tested it by writing endless notes for a new book I'm writing about 9/11 (I'll let you all know when it's done) and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of an aching hand. If I'd have had one of these when I was doing my exams at university I think I could have probably written another five pages! It's designed to allow grip with minimal pressure, so your hand doesn't get angry with you for punishing it so severely.
It's $4. How can this not be a steal at $4? You could go all the way up to $26 if you'd like a beautiful chrome one with extra ergonomic rubber on the grip. This one is for the person who has got everything and is a little impartial to something strange. Vinylux Vintage Vinyl Designs is an epic name for a strange product. Artist Jeff Davis takes old records and re-moulds them into interesting things, from bowls to clocks. They sit nicely on a coffee table as a conversation starter when you have particularly boring guests round. One interesting point to note is that Jeff is careful to say in his small print "Record Bowl Artists will vary". I got lucky with Engelbert Humperdinck. Jackpot.
Don't forget to grab some coasters too. These fill yet more silent air time when you have those boring guests over again.
