The Moleskin

For two centuries Moleskine has been the legendary notebook of artists, writers, intellectuals and travelers. The Lord of The Rings

It's a classic novel, and each year it seems to be released in yet more and more formats. There is only one worth getting and that is the leather bound, gold gilded and handcrafted 50th Anniversary Edition.

It has been said that this is the book that Tolken dreamed of having published but couldn't due to a post WWII economy and publisher worries of releasing a 400,000 word publication.

This beautiful edition contains reproductions of the Book of Marzubul - original and hand written notes from the Dwarven book found by Gandalf in the Mines of Mornia.

A Pacific Pen

Everyone seems to buy a pen at Christmas, so if you're going to get one why not make it a pen thats a little different than the rest. The Pen Again is a pen which has been designed from the ground up for comfort and ease of use. When I first put one of these things in my hand I immediately wondered why no-one had ever thought of this before. It feels like thats where it should be, but it feels really weird at the same time - I feel me and my Pen Again are going to get on just fine.

I tested it by writing endless notes for a new book I'm writing about 9/11 (I'll let you all know when it's done) and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of an aching hand. If I'd have had one of these when I was doing my exams at university I think I could have probably written another five pages! This one is for the person who has got everything and is a little impartial to something strange. Vinylux Vintage Vinyl Designs is an epic name for a strange product. Artist Jeff Davis takes old records and re-moulds them into interesting things, from bowls to clocks. They sit nicely on a coffee table as a conversation starter when you have particularly boring guests round. One interesting point to note is that Jeff is careful to say in his small print "Record Bowl Artists will vary". I got lucky with Engelbert Humperdinck. Jackpot.

iPhone now where do iDownload?

I don't have an iPhone, but I really do want one. Maybe Santa will play nice and get me one for Christmas.....

I do however have a Nokia phone capable of playing video files, which I enjoy to my hearts content whilst on train journeys, or if I'm lucky enough, plane journeys.

It has always been a bit messy trying to find and download the TV-Shows and movies I want, some are available, some aren't, some are expensive, others are free, the file names are wrong, the format is wrong etc etc etc.

None the less I had become quite adept at finding what I wanted, occasionally conceding defeat and not getting the show I wanted.

How to get back Money you're Owed

Hey guys,

This is a really simple one. I recently thought about how much money I am owed because of my emergency taxing. I rarely fill in the right forms when I get a new job to ensure that I'm in the right tax bracket. I'm sure you've all done that at some point right?

There's a really good service online that helps you get back all the money you are owed, not just from tax (which is where I got mine) but from old insurance policies, over paid taxes, stocks & dividends, old checking & savings accounts and other such things. Background Checking Fun!

Hello!

I recently was talking to a friend who works in the security industry. It's a strange old game he tells me, but the wheels are coming off since it has become so easy and cheap to do the work yourself.

His job is to run simple background checks on people before they are employed by his clients, and occasionally dabbles as a private investigator. It's an expensive thing to do, it's labor intensive, and involves investment of your time but like many other industries, the background checking/investigating industry is falling to the efficiency of the internet.

He told me that extensive background checks are now available for pennies online, something that the industry is struggling to contend with.

I was interested. I don't even need the service really, but I wanted to know if he was right.

My conclusion?

He is. I found the service he's talking about and have I been having fun with it...it's just so.....fast and....efficient! I dare you all not to play with it! Best $16 I ever spent!
