I recently was talking to a friend who works in the security industry. It's a strange old game he tells me, but the wheels are coming off since it has become so easy and cheap to do the work yourself.
His job is to run simple background checks on people before they are employed by his clients, and occasionally dabbles as a private investigator. It's an expensive thing to do, it's labor intensive, and involves investment of your time but like many other industries, the background checking/investigating industry is falling to the efficiency of the internet.
He told me that extensive background checks are now available for pennies online, something that the industry is struggling to contend with.
I was interested. I don't even need the service really, but I wanted to know if he was right.
My conclusion?
He is. I found the service he's talking about and have I been having fun with it...it's just so.....fast and....efficient! I dare you all not to play with it! Best $16 I ever spent!
